Introduced:

The Hall class was introduced in 1924, although the prototype, no. 4900 Saint Martin, was rebuilt from a Saint class locomotive in 1924. The Modified Hall class was introduced in 1944

Purpose:

A powerful mixed-traffic locomotive, as at home on express passenger trains as on freight work. 330 of the class were built and could be found all over the Great Western system. Owsden Hall left Dai Woodham's yard in late 1986 has been undergoing restoration on the GWR since then.
